Delivering GOV.UK’s first end-to-end services

Completing tasks on GOV.UK like ‘starting a business’ or ‘learning to drive’ used to mean having to interact with a vast number of siloed pieces of content a provided by many different parts of government – leaving users to navigate this in the right order successfully in order to reach their goal.

I initiated a new programme of work on GOV.UK to take the existing A-Z navigation of content and turn it into thematic, service-based navigation, allowing users to navigate a service like ‘learning to drive’ in one coherent service journey. Displayed on a single page, this new navigation shows the user all the steps in the process, what they need to do, and in what order.
